
Duane M. Kopecky, age 70, died unexpectedly on Friday (January 27, 2023) at his home due to
complications brought on by his recent Cancer treatments.
Duane was born in Milwaukee, a son of the late George and Carol (Schott) Kopecky, and graduated from
James Madison High School in 1971. He maintained dual residences in Milwaukee and Cascade over the
past years.
He worked until his recent illness as a semi-truck operator with YRC Freight primarily servicing areas in
southern Wisconsin. Duane actively served Teamsters Local 200 since his initiation date of February 28,
1979 which acknowledged Duane as being a “leader with Teamsters Local 200 and a model of a Union
Brother”. Local 200 noted that Duane served as Union Steward with “vision and devotion”.
Duane was a former member of the Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He
enjoyed bowling and Skiing in his younger days.
Duane’s keen wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.
Survivors include: two sisters: Georgia (Dennis) Brown of Cascade and Susan Lecher-Struebing of
Sheboygan Falls, three brothers: Joseph (Jeanine) Kopecky of Elkhorn, WI, William Kopecky (Sister-in-
law: Jean Kopecky) of Fond du Lac and Steve (Christine) Kopecky of Whitefish Bay, along with many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon (February 4, 2023) at 2:30 P.M. at the Chapel of the
Chimes at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI. Visitation will be held on SATURDAY (February 4,
2023) at the Chapel of the Chimes from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the services. Private inurnment will
take place at a later date.
