WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsin voters will be asked on April’s statewide ballot whether childless, able-bodied adults should be required to look for work to get welfare benefits.
Green Bay Democrat Christina Shelton was frustrated during Thursday’s Assembly debate.
“It is amazing to see the mental gymnastics that Wisconsin Republicans are actively pursuing to make sense of something that already is happening.” said Shelton.
Lodi Republican Jon Plumer made his voice heard, too.
“This is something the state’s supposed to be doing. It’s not the only instance in the state of Wisconsin where an agency is not following the letter of the law.” said Plumer.
It’s an advisory referendum; meaning no action is required if approved by voters. Voters will also be asked to approve a proposed constitutional amendment on bail reform.
