When extreme cold over Christmas left Sheboygan’s Above and Beyond Children’s Museum soaked from top to bottom from burst water pipes, many were heartbroken. The museum is facing $150,000 in damage repairs, as well as replacing lost revenue, but the job of paying for rebuilding and reopening is being made a bit easier by those jumping in to help.
Some of that help is coming from 3 Sheeps Brewing Company, which will host a family-friendly fundraiser at the 3 Sheeps Taproom on Sunday, January 29 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The brewer will donate $1 for each pint of 3 Sheeps Pilsner sold during those hours.
Smaller businesses are also stepping up. One of those is the End Zone, a bar at 9th and Indiana Avenue in Sheboygan, which also does regular fundraisers. Penny MacLaughlin is a co-owner of the bar, and she said that Above and Beyond was an easy choice to help out, telling us that “We have grandchildren that enjoy going there, and a good girlfriend of mine saw the news story right after it happened, and she said ‘I think this would be an excellent fundraiser’, and I’m like, I agree!”
Instead of a single day, though, the End Zone began selling tickets for prize drawings on December 30th and won’t stop until the drawing itself on February 7th. And then there’s a bit more…MacLaughlin said that the End Zone is going to match whatever they raised.
Tickets are available at the bar at 904 Indiana Avenue.
