SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health added 16 new cases of COVID-19 in today’s report, raising the County’s total confirmed cases to 268. The DPH did note that not all 16 new cases were associated with a single cluster. Rather, they are a mixture of contacts to existing positives, along with continuing community surveillance. With another 5 persons recovering, active cases now number 55, with two of those hospitalized. 237 negative test results were returned since yesterday, yielding a positive return rate of over 6.3% Those statistics place Sheboygan County in the categories of a moderately high burden, and a high activity level.
By the numbers, 100 county residents between the ages of 20 and 39 have come down with COVID-19. That’s over 37% of the total. 77 belong to ages 40-59, 52 to those ages 60-79, 27 persons under age 20 have had COVID-19 here, and 12 cases occurred in those 80 and older.
Wisconsin added another 598 cases of the coronavirus among the 10,736 test returns, yielding a positive return rate of 5.6%. Two more deaths were added, raising the toll to 807. Cases in the Badger State now number at least 33,154. 307 Wisconsinites are currently on ventilators to support respiration in the face of COVID-19.
The County DHS emphasized in their report that keeping social circles small will slow the spread of COVID-19 by keeping exposure risk at a minimum for exposure to a single positive person. However, with increasing group size comes the greater odds that more will become both directly and indirectly exposed to one positive person.
