VIENNA (Reuters) – Two people died on Wednesday after a rockfall in the Baerenschuetzklamm, a spectacular mountain gorge accessible to visitors in the Austrian province of Styria, the provincial head of the mountain rescue service said.
Seven people were injured, Michael Miggitsch told Reuters. He was unable to provide more details.
The Baerenschuetzklamm is one of the longest gorges in Austria and can be entered on wooden walkways.
Mountain rescuers, police, the fire brigade and the Red Cross were on site, according to Styrian police.
