Gertrude A. Garczynski, 89, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Pine Haven Christian Homes- Giddings Avenue.
Gertrude was born on September 19, 1933, in Sheboygan Falls, daughter of Harold and Veronica (Rommelfanger) Schroeder. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1951 and went on to study to be a Certified Medical Assistant at Lakeshore Technical Institute. She worked with local pediatricians Dr. Simonson and Dr. Reinemann for over 10 years.
On June 5, 1954, she married Edward Garczynski.
Gertrude was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she had served as the treasurer for many years and was also a member of the Women’s Guild. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and very active with local food pantries, especially Plymouth’s. An avid Brewers fan, Gertrude had enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved knitting and crocheting, and donated countless blankets to local shelters, newborn hats to local hospitals, and outfits and dolls to Community Bank for their display.
Gertrude is survived by her two sons, Alan (Jeanne) Garczynski of Sheboygan and Drew Garczynski of Plymouth; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brother Richard Schroeder; sisters-in-law Agnes Schroeder and Judy Schroeder. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Edward Garczynski; siblings Marie Muehlberg, William Schroeder, Doris M. Schroeder and Robert Schroeder.
A memorial service to celebrate Gertrude’s life will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Reverend Father Paul S. Coey officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 4:00 until the time of the service at 6:00.
A memorial fund has been established in Gertrude’s name.
