DETROIT, MI (WHBL) – The Green Bay Packers were held to just one touchdown and a field goal in a 15-9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, their fifth defeat in a row.
That lone touchdown drive came in the 3rd quarter on an eight-play, 46-yard drive that ended with Aaron Rodgers finding Allen Lazard from 20 yards out for the score. That made the score 8-6 in favor of Detroit after the Lions had initially missed the PAT on their first-half score but, upon review, a running into the kicker penalty was assessed to the Packers. Detroit chose to accept the penalty on the try and went for two from the one-yard line, which they converted.
Green Bay failed on their two-point try, leaving the score at 8-6 heading into the 4th.
Detroit struck first in the final quarter with Jared Goff tossing a three-yard TD pass. The extra point was good, giving the Lions a 15-6 lead. Green Bay would get a 25-yard field goal from Mason Crosby but that would be all for the game.
Green Bay had three possessions that went inside the Detroit 10 and scored on just one of those (Crosby’s FG).
Rodgers finished 23/43 for 291 yards and one touchdown. He also threw three picks and was the teams leading rusher with four carries for 40 yards. Lazard had four catches for 87 yards and one score.
Jaire Alexander led the defense with two tackles and an interception. Kenny Clark added four tackles and three assists.
Green Bay welcomes Dallas to Lambeau Field next Sunday.
