MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – A pair of 9th-inning homers lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in the final game of the regular season on Wednesday.
Tyrone Taylor and Rowdy Tellez provided the runs for the Brewers. Tellez hit an 8th-inning solo home run. Willy Adames and Keston Hiura each had two hits in the game as well.
Milwaukee used five pitchers for the game, beginning with Corbin Burnes. He went three perfect innings with five strikeouts, giving him a National League-leading 243 strikeouts for the season. Burnes becomes the first player in Brewers’ history to lead his league in strikeouts.
Aaron Ashby, Brad Boxberger, and Hoby Milner also saw action on the mound.
Trevor Gott served up the two homers in the 9th that turned a 2-1 lead into a 4-2 deficit. He was charged with a blown save and the loss.
Milwaukee finishes the season 86-76 and in second place in the NL Central.
