ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium as the two teams split their two-game series.
Despite banging out 10 hits and drawing four walks, Milwaukee only managed a Tyrone Taylor sac fly in the second inning.
Cardinals’ pitcher Adam Wainwright and catcher Yadier Molina recorded their 325th start together as pitcher and catcher, setting an MLB record. Wainwright was able to work out of multiple jams including twice with the bases loaded. He gave up just one run over five innings to earn the win for St. Louis.
For the Crew, Corbin Burnes went seven innings and gave up three runs on seven hits. He falls to 10-7 on the season.
The Brewers stay two games back of San Diego in the battle for the final wild card as the Padres lost in Seattle.
Milwaukee has Thursday off before beginning a weekend series with the New York Yankees on Friday night at American Family Field.
