Completing construction of what’s to be “Sheboygan’s Hub for Active Seniors” will require bringing sidewalks outside that building up to standards with the Americans with Disabilities Act…and that means detours around the site.
Beginning Monday (September 12), North 8th Street will be closed to through traffic at Zimbal Avenue to allow crews to upgrade the sidewalks and also do storm sewer improvements in the area around Uptown Social. Southbound traffic will be routed west on Bluff Avenue to North 9th Street, then east on National Avenue. Northbound traffic will go east on National to North 7th Street, then west on Bluff. And although weather could impact the schedule, that work is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
As for Uptown Social itself, the $3-1/2 million project renovating the former Save-A-Lot building at 1817 North 8th Street was projected to finish up in November, but supply chain issues may force a later opening.
