MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers swept a doubleheader from the San Francisco Giants on Thursday at American Family Field. The scores were 2-1 & 4-2.
In game one, Corbin Burnes was dominant for 8 innings, giving up one run on three hits with 14 strikeouts. Devin Williams tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his 11th save.
The Brewers scored both of their runs in the 4th inning on back to back run scoring doubles from Christian Yelich and Hunter Renfroe.
In game two, the bullpen threw seven innings of relief after starter Freddy Peralta was forced to leave with an injury in the 3rd inning.
Milwaukee scored three runs in the first inning on an error and a sac fly from Keston Hiura. Garrett Mitchell added an RBI in the 6th.
Peter Strzelecki picked up the win and Taylor Rogers struck out the side in the 9th for the save.
With the wins the Brewers picked up a game and a half on the Phillies in the wild card chase. They are 2 1/2 games back of the final spot.
