- Sheboygan North, Head Coach: Joe O’Brien; 2021 season record: 3-6 (3-4)
Although the Golden Raiders finished in the middle of the pack in the Fox River Classic Conference South Division last season, Sheboygan North finished 2021 on a three-game winning streak, capped off with an emphatic 64-6 victory over Green Bay-West. The team may have lost 11 seniors in 2021, but enters 2022 with 15 seniors on their roster this year and a great deal of underclassmen who look to build upon the program’s momentum from last season.
Head coach Joe O’Brien will be entering his sixth season at the helm for the Golden Raiders, and is still in search of an above .500 season record, but between the fall 2021 season and the special 2021 spring season (which was done as alternative for schools after the cancelled 2020 season) Sheboygan North has had two constructive three-win seasons and has beaten their primary rival Sheboygan South in their last three meetings. Coach O’Brien’s plan for the program is the commitment to building a foundation and it has shown signs of success, as O’Brien said that “we have seen a greater commitment from our players to the weight room, off-season programs, and are even seeing them take up more sports besides football.” Despite the rivalry between the schools on the field, coach O’Brien actually shares a bond with Sheboygan South Head Coach Jason Harder, saying that “we share a common goal to make Sheboygan a football town, running football camps and encouraging the growth of our respective programs.”
