Chances are that you’ll be dealing with a detour while navigating Sheboygan streets over the next few weeks as crews replace pavement on four area roadways.
Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Thursday, July 28th through Friday, August 5th to allow for removal of the existing pavement and replacement with new asphalt. There will be local access, but most traffic will need to use a detour of around 9 city blocks on North 6th Street, Niagara Avenue and Broughton Drive to get around that project.
Two other streets, Lincoln Avenue between North 10th and 12th Streets and North 10th Street between North Avenue and School Avenue, will be closed beginning this Wednesday for a similar asphalt replacement. Removal should take only one day, but the DPW says additional closures are expected for the new asphalt placement on Thursday the 28th, and again on Tuesday, August 2nd.
Finally, construction on North 8th Street between Superior Avenue and National Avenue will begin this Friday for pavement removal and replacement as well as some utility work. While the removal should take only one day, an exact schedule for replacing the pavement hasn’t been set. However the DPW does expect that project to be complete sometime in mid-August, and in all cases weather could impact those schedules.
Maps detailing the projects (red) and detours when needed (green) are posted below.
