
Lucille Ione Loretta Menzer, age 98, of Sheboygan went home to be with her Lord on Thursday
July 14, 2022, at Terrace Place where she had been residing for the past 10 months. Lucille was
born on October 24, 1923, in the Town of Greenbush to William and Nora (Kraemer) Rosenthal.
She attended Elder Grove School and graduated from Plymouth High School. After graduation
she moved to Sheboygan and was employed at American Hydraulics and Hand Knit Hosiery.
On September 14, 1946, Lucille was united in marriage to Waldemar "Shorty" Menzer at St.
John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, WI. They enjoyed 47 years together until his passing in
1994. After raising her family, she returned to work as a knitter at Wigwam Mills. Lucille was a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan since her marriage. She was a member of the
VFW 9156 auxiliary for over 50 years. In her retirement she was a volunteer at the John
Michael Kohler Arts Center and an election poll worker. Lucille enjoyed knitting, quilting,
cross-stitching, collecting recipes, garage sales, crafting with her grandchildren and visits with
her great grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by her children Darwin (Karin) Menzer of Plymouth, Darrell (Yvonne)
Menzer and Deborah Specht both of Sheboygan. Her grandchildren Carolyn (Adam Jaeger)
Spude, Jennifer (Randall) Fowlkes, Ryan (Holly) Menzer, David (Mandie) Menzer and
Stephanie (Eric) Specht. Her great-grandchildren Gabriel and Lydia Spude, Macy and Austin
Fowlkes, Mercedes, Emmett and Phoebe Menzer, Malachi, Elijah and Isaiah Menzer, Lucy and
Levi Specht. She is further survived by her sister Leona Schultz of Champaign, Il. and her nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Harvey Specht, grandson
Christopher Specht, brother Lavern Rosenthal and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral service for Lucille will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave.
Sheboygan at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday July 17, 2022, with the Rev. Timothy Mech officiating.
Visitation will be held at the CHURCH from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
She will be laid to rest at The Lutheran Cemetery.
A memorial fund will be established in Lucille's name for Trinity Lutheran Church and Meals on
Wheels.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to both the staff of Terrace Place and
Compassus Hospice for Lucille's care.
