MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – A wild 9th inning ended with the Milwaukee Brewers coming up just short in an 8-6 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday at American Family Field, as the Brewers dropped two of three to the Pirates.
The Brewers’ bullpen faltered late, giving-up three runs in the ninth. Milwaukee scored twice in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn’t come all the way back.
Andrew McCutchen recorded a two-run homer in that final frame – his only hit of the game.
Mike Brosseau added two hits and an RBI. Luis Urias was 1 for 3 with two RBI’s.
Trevor Gott took the loss on the mound after allowing two earned runs off two hits in the 6th. Eric Lauer went 5 innings in the start but left with a no-decision.
Milwaukee falls to 48-39 on the season but remains in first place in the NL Central.
The Brewers went just 2-4 in their six-game homestand against the Cubs and Pirates.. The Crew has Monday off, then will head to Minnesota Tuesday for a two-game series against the Twins.
