The UW-Sheboygan Foundation, a philanthropic society of those dedicated to supporting public higher education in Sheboygan County, is going to combine with the UW-Green Bay Foundation to create efficiencies and eliminate duplication of fiduciary duties. The move was announced on Thursday by the two entities as they focus on growing the number of college degree earners in the region so as to retain and attract employers within today’s rapidly evolving economy. The regional rate of college degree attainment of 26% lags in comparison with the national rate of 33%.
UW-Sheboygan Foundation board chair Tom Ries stated that there’s lots of overlap between the two organizations, and that combining them makes sense. And while UWSF funds will now flow through the UW-Green Bay Foundation, donors will still be able to restrict gifts for use at the UW-Green Bay, Sheboygan Campus, and donor intent on existing endowed funds will be honored.
