Arline Hoppe, age 94, of Howards Grove, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Harvest
Home in Howards Grove.
Arline was born on January 17, 1928, to Arwin and Lydia (Gleich) Sprenger, in Howards Grove. She
attended Millersville School through 8 th grade, and later graduated from Central High School with the
class of 1945. On November 1 st , 1947, Arline was united in marriage to the love of her life, Reuben
Hoppe and together they raised two children, Sandra and David.
Arline worked various jobs over her lifetime, including the Commercial Engraving Company, Millersville
Box Company, and for the Village of Howards Grove as the Deputy Clerk from 1967-1979 and later as
Clerk from 1979-1981.
Arline was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. She was a member of the church
choir for over 50 years and served as the treasurer of music and the librarian for several years. She was a
member of the Ladies Aid and served as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. She was
also a member of the St. Paul’s History Committee. She was the co-author of the “Millersville Book.”
Arline loved to bowl and was part of JB’s Tuesday Morning Coffee League and Wednesday Night Bowling
League.
Arline is survived by her children, Sandra (Edward) Strauss and David (Amy) Hoppe; grandchildren, Sara
(Rick) Knoflieck and Darin (Tanya) Strauss; granddaughter-in-law, Kris Strauss; great-grandchildren,
Bryce, Evan and Brianna; step-great-grandchildren, Carly, Amanda, Ava, and Sam; sister-in-law, Evelyn
Sprenger; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Arline was preceded in death by her loving husband, Reuben, who passed away on January 12, 2018;
grandson, Dean; parents; brother, Lester Sprenger; sisters, Bernice Thomson and Irene Sebald; and
other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Arline at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Paul’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church (441 Millersville Ave, Howard Grove, WI 53083) with Pastor Adam Bode officiating.
A public visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at the church. Arline’s service will be
livestreamed and viewable at a later date from her obituary page on
www.zimmerfuneralhome.com.
Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and
Manitowoc Lutheran High School in Arline’s name.
