Participants in Wisconsin’s FoodShare program who lost food due to power outages caused by recent severe weather can apply for replacement benefits.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is making the move because, as Secretary-designee Karen Timberlake said “The damage caused by the severe storms across Wisconsin this week has hit many families who were already struggling. We want our FoodShare members to know that replacement benefits are available to help restock food that was lost.”
FoodShare participants who lost food from a power outage lasting four or more hours or other storm damage can request replacement benefits by submitting a form and providing proof of the outage or other causes of lost food. Sheboygan County members having trouble finding proof can request help from Capital Consortium, the agency that manages benefits here. Forms must be submitted within 10 days of the date of food loss.
The form is available here.
