The body of a man who went missing after he ran down the North Pier and into Lake Michigan late on Memorial Day has been recovered.
Sheboygan Police were notified of the discovery of a body in the harbor at about 12:30 Friday afternoon. Following recovery of the victim, police were able to confirm the identity as the 26-year-old Sheboygan resident who had been reported missing on May 30th. While the incident remains under investigation, there is no indication of suspicious or criminal factors and investigators believe the death is the result of accidental circumstances.
Multiple agencies assisted with the recovery including the Sheboygan County Dive Team, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, Sheboygan County Medical Examiner’s Office, Sheboygan Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard. The identity of the victim is being withheld to allow for notification of the family, and the Sheboygan Police Department extended its deepest sympathy for those grieving the loss.
