Linda Mae Husa (Schumacher), age 74, of Kohler, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022, at Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer. She spent her final days
surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and prayer.
She was born on August 17, 1947, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, a daughter to the late Emil and June (May)
Schumacher. In 1965, she was named Miss Oak Creek, and was runner-up in the Miss Wisconsin pageant
that same year. On September 21, 1974, she married Darrel Husa. Married for nearly 48 years, their
love story is truly made for a novel, filled with love, tears, and so much laughter and joy.
Linda graduated from UW-Stout in Fashion Merchandising. She started her career working as a designer
and merchandise purchaser for large companies in Milwaukee and Chicago, meeting and working with
many famous designers. In 1982, she moved from Highland Park, Illinois, to Sheboygan, where she had
several community-facing positions including master puppeteer at the JMKAC and regional manager for
Market Day. In 2000, she opened The Red Rooster in Plymouth and ran it for nearly 20 years. The store
was always filled with treasures, and she delighted in sharing laughter, stories and memories with her
guests. Linda loved treasure hunting but also loved to see things from her store find new homes.
Linda survived Breast Cancer and was later diagnosed with Bone Marrow Cancer. After being given a
slim chance of survival, she received a bone marrow transplant in 2011 and persevered cancer free for
the next 11 years. This spring, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian cancer – yet she remained strong
and determined to beat it until the very end. A true warrior, she had a total of 55 rounds of chemo in 14
years. Through it all remained her joyous smile, and her contagious laugh and her impeccable sense of
style.
Her happy place was sitting on the deck by the lake up north with her friends and family. She was a very
supportive and loving wife to her husband, extremely proud mother of her son John and daughter Kate,
and loved her two grandkids unconditionally. Her continuous positive attitude and outlook spread joy
and beauty wherever she went and helped so many others stay strong. She will continue to be an
inspiration to many.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Darrel, of Kohler; children John Husa of Sheboygan and Kate
(Kelly) Mueller of Plymouth; step-children Robert “Bob” Husa (Diane Deedy), Mike Husa and Tom Husa;
grandchildren Hans and Henry Mueller; brother Rev. James (Jane) Schumacher; niece Courtney
(Michael) Portmann; nephew Clint Schumacher; and sister-in-law Darlene (Keith) Pribyl. She was
preceded in death by her parents, and many close friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 2:00-
4:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 4:15 p.m. Rev. James Schumacher will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Linda’s name.
