MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – For the first time since 2016 the Milwaukee Brewers have dropped six games in a row at home, as the Philadelphia Phillies topped the Brewers 8-3 on Thursday afternoon to sweep the three-game series.
Willy Adames homered for Milwaukee but it wasn’t enough. The Brewers, who had been struggling on offense, did manage 11 hits with Victor Caratini going 3 for 4 and Christian Yelich picking up 2 hits. Andrew McCutchen and Hunter Renfroe had RBIs.
Corbin Burnes struggled with his command, throwing 113 pitches over only 4 1/3 innings. He gave up three runs (one earned) and struck out eight.
The Brewers will now head to Washington Friday night for a three-game weekend series against the Nationals – part of a nine-game road trip.
Pregame coverage for game one will begin at 5:30 on WHBL.
