A new partnership has been formed that will provide a centralized approach to growing and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in Sheboygan County.
The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation and Lakeland University will create and manage the Sheboygan County Innovation Council, advising and guiding innovation-based programming and services.
SCEDC Executive Director Brian Doudna said that the agreement will create a stronger technical support eco-system for up to six new start-ups that will compete for $10,000 each. That money comes from a SEED Accelerator grant provided by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, which the new Innovation Council will administer.
Lakeland will be doing its part from its new “Jakes, A Lakeland Community”, the former Jake’s Cafe on Ontario Avenue, which it acquired this past March. Lakeland President Beth Borgen said the partnership will provide students opportunities to be a part of the work of supporting the entrepreneurs as they launch their enterprises.
