After a day’s delay due to bad weather, the search for a 26-year-old Sheboygan male was resumed at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the waters off Sheboygan.
According to Sheboygan Assistant Fire Chief Michael Lubbert, the Sheboygan Fire Department was assisted by the Sheboygan County Dive Team, Sheboygan Police Department, Milwaukee Fire Department, Sheboygan County Drone Team, Sheboygan Sheriff Department, United States Coast Guard and the Department of Natural Resources in the continuing attempt to locate the person.
Witnesses believe the individual ran down the north pier and jumped into the water around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Search and rescue operations were conducted until about 2:30 Tuesday morning when hazardous conditions forced a retreat from the search.
By Wednesday morning officials said that conditions were ideal for search operations to resume. Agencies searched the Sheboygan Harbor using underwater sonar and drones. In addition, divers checked areas of the harbor and were unable to locate the victim.
As of shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday the search was discontinued, and the family was notified.
