With the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health aligning their reporting of COVID-19 pandemic statistics with that of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control, hard numbers have largely been replaced with averages and trends.
Whereas Monday began the week’s reporting with the number of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people in the previous 7 days at 13.92, the week ended on Friday with that figure rising to 137.85. The 7-day total of new COVID-19 hospital admissions per 100,000 population was 3.30 on Moday, May 9th; it rose to 4.90 by Friday the 13th. And the 7-day average percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients went from 1.90% on Monday, to 2.50% by Friday. The current community level in Sheboygan County remained “low” throughout the week.
Since last revised in late April – prior to a period absent of data updates during realignment with state reporting – another two deaths were added to those at least 80 years old who’s death was attributed to COVID-19. Of the now 270 Sheboygan County casualties of the pandemic, one-hundred-eighteen were at least 80 years old, seventy-one were in their 70s, forty-four were in their 60s, twenty were in their 50s, nine were in their 40s, six were in their 30s, one was in their 20s, and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
As of Friday, 63.1% of the county population, or 72,674, had received at least their first dose of vaccine, while 60.6%, or 69,806, had received two. Boosters had been received by 38,507, or 33.4% of the population.
