Iris Leora Kelling, age 92, of Random Lake, passed away on Thursday (May 12, 2022) at the
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
She was born in the Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc, County on August 24, 1929, daughter of the late Elmer
and Remilda (Koeser) Mayer.
She attended Mapledale Grade School. On December 4, 1948 she married Vernon Kelling at Ebenezer
Reformed Church in Sheboygan. Her husband preceded her in death on June 17, 2017.
Iris was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Random Lake. She was a 4H teacher for
12 years and a member of the Women’s Guild at St. Paul’s Church in Silver Creek.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and baking. Iris worked at Gables on the Pond until 2020.
She is survived by her seven children: Mary Ellen Luedtke of Fredonia, Dave Kelling of Batavia,
Roger (Colleen) Kelling of Cedar Grove, Dale (Mary) Kelling of Manitowoc, Keith (Carol) Kelling of
Random Lake, Steve Kelling of Adell and Lisa (Daniel) Roerdink of Oostburg; 21 grandchildren; 36
great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Janice Kelling; brother: Larry
(Sandy) Mayer of Fredonia; sister: Joan Meyer of Kiel; sisters-in-law: Vivian Guenther of Plymouth
and Pat Kelling of Plymouth; brother-in-law: Wayne Voigt of De Forest.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son: Jon; brothers: Dennis Mayer and
Herman (Dorothy) Mayer; three sisters: Carol (Arnold) Voigt, Shirley Schlicting, Romelle Voigt;
brothers-in-law: Frederick Meyer, Dean Kelling, and Spencer Guenther; daughter-in-law: Kaye
and four grandsons: Matthew Kelling, Douglas Luedtke, Lance Luedtke, and Neal Kelling.
Following Iris’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on May 28, 2022
(Saturday) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a memorial
service to follow at 1:00 PM.
Inurnment will be in Silver Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Iris’s name.
