PITTSBURGH, PA (WHBL) – On a frigid night in Pittsburgh it took awhile for the bats to warm up but the Milwaukee Brewers were able to do enough in a 3-1 win on Wednesday night.
Both teams took no-hitters into the middle innings and the Brewers ended up giving up just one hit – a ground ball off the glove of a diving Mike Brosseau in the 6th. Brewer pitchers did walk seven with 12 Ks.
Aaron Ashby pitched 5 and two-thirds innings of one run ball. Trevor Gott faced one hitter in the 6th and picked up the win. Josh Hader earned his 10th save despite walking two in the 9th before striking out the side.
The Brewers only managed four hits but strung three of them together in the 7th when they plated two runs. Rowdy Tellez and Tyrone Taylor each had RBI’s. Kolten Wong drove in an insurance run in the 9th.
The two teams wrap up the series Thursday with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 11am.
