SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The number of positive test results for COVID-19 reported today by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health jumped by 11, bringing the total case number now to 142. 38 cases – 9 more than yesterday – are active, and with 2 more recoveries, the number who no longer have the illness has reached 100. One person is currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Another 99 test results received since yesterday were negative. The rate of positive test returns has increased day-over-day since Sunday in Sheboygan County.
Across Wisconsin, 333 more positive tests were received raising the state total to 21,926. That’s 3.6% of all test returns, a figure that has increased 2 consecutive days, and 11 more persons in Wisconsin have died of a coronavirus infection, raising the toll to 682.
The County Division of Public Health, responding to questions concerning where the increasing number of positive cases originate, said it’s a combination of workplaces, large gatherings, clusters within families and community spread from unknown contacts. They emphasized that while our economy is reopening, the risk for contracting and spreading COVID has not gone away. Thus, the original measures recommended to control the spread of coronavirus at the beginning of the pandemic still apply – practice vigilant handwashing, social distancing, limit the amount of people you have close contact with, and practice masking when in public spaces.
