Those looking for high-profile contests may come up empty, but a review of Sheboygan County ballots for Tuesday’s spring election reveals many contests for fundamental governmental roles such as Alderpersons, County Board and Town Supervisors.
The most impactful issue may be a referendum in which voters in the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District are being asked to approve a $21.5 million Bond to fund improvements to the Elementary/Middle, and High School Buildings.
Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls voters will be casting ballots for Mayor, but both Donald Pohlman of Plymouth and Randy Meyer of Falls are unopposed.
Many positions for Alderperson in the City of Sheboygan are uncontested, but among those with challengers are District 2 where incumbent Roberta Filicky-Peneski is being challenged by John Ranieri; District 4 where incumbent Betty Ackley faces a challenge by Debra Yochis; District 6 sees a race between incumbent Dean Dekker and his challenger Mark Hermann; and In District 10 Joseph Heidemann is challenging incumbent Andre Walton. In District 8 there is a contest to fill a seat now held by Leslie Laster, selected to fill the unexpired term of Ryan Sorenson who resigned that post after being elected Mayor last year. Voters will choose between Jesse Roethel and Zachary Rust.
In Sheboygan Falls voters in District 2 will choose between Rachel Margaret Howard and incumbent Paul Jensen, while the rest are uncontested.
County Board Supervisor races include District 3 in which Kathleen Donovan and Lisa Salgado face off to fill the seat previously held by Vicky Schneider; District 12 incumbent Robert Ziegelbauer has a challenge from Suzanne Speltz; District 13 sees incumbent Charlette Nennig challenged by James Coulson; and in District 16 where Kevin Sande and John Nelson are vying to win the seat previously held by Fran Damp. Former District 18 Supervisor Jacob Immel will now be in District 19, where he’s challenging Roberta Vollbrecht-Lentz, while his former District 18 seat will be decided between James Evraets and Christian Ellis. District 20 supervisor Brian Hoffmann faces a challenge from Carl Nonhof; the District 23 Supervisor race pits Dan Jones against incumbent Jacqueline Veldman; District 24 Supervisor incumbent William Goehring is being challenged by Arush Chahal; In District 25 incumbent Roger TeStroete is facing off against David Reichle.
Town of Lima voters will elect two Town Board Supervisors from a field of three, which include Jim Heinen, Jay Vander Weele, and Louise Robson.
Town of Sheboygan voters have to pick between Diane Schmahl and Tim Winkel for the Town Board Supervisor #1 post held previously by Char Gumm.
In the Town of Wilson, a three-person field consisting of James Van Ess, Nancy DesJardins and Matthew Fore will put the top two vote-getters onto the Town Board of Supervisors.
In Sheboygan County all polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
