If the first quarter of 2022 in the pandemic in Sheboygan County were to be characterized as is often the case with the Month of March, it came in like a lion and has gone out like a lamb.
Active case numbers starting the new year quadrupled in the first two weeks, surging to an all-time high of 5,214 cases on January 27. But by the end of March fewer than 70 cases were being watched and the pace of change has slowed to a lazy pace.
No new cases were added on Friday, while two recoveries lowered the active case count to 67. The 7-day average of daily new confirmed cases of COVID-19 was 4, as it had been the previous two days.
There were no new hospital admissions, and with one discharge the patient count fell to 3.
15 persons received their first dose of vaccine since Thursday, raising that total to 72,462, or 62.9%. 60.3% of the county has received both doses; numbering 69,439 that’s 11 more in the last day. Another 25 got their boosters, raising that total to 37,786, or 32.8%.
