WEST BEND, WI (WSAU) — A Washington County Supervisor who let his concealed carry permit lapse could be in trouble after a handgun fell from his waistband during a meeting earlier this month.
Investigators say Timothy Michalak brought the gun into a meeting on March 9th. When officers questioned him after the gun fell, he allegedly implied that as an elected official he thought he was exempt from the law.
Michalak, who’s also the Mayor of Hartford, could face a misdemeanor weapons charge which would carry a $10,000 fine.
The Washington County Board did acknowledge the alleged incident during a recent meeting, and will reportedly be working with an outside attorney to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
Michalak has been on the board for ten years and has not commented on the incident.
