The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development released its February data on employment on Wednesday and, in Sheboygan County, both the size of the workforce and number unemployed rose slightly.
The Labor Force, or total number of people both employed plus unemployed, gained 205 over the previous month, rising to 62,800. While the number of those employed grew by 136, the total of unemployed grew by 69 raising the unemployment rate one-tenth of one percent to 2.6%.
Economists consider 3% or less to be full employment. Statewide, February unemployment rates declined in all 72 counties compared with 2021, but increased in all but two counties compared to this past January of ‘22. The figures quoted are not seasonally adjusted.
