(WHBL) – Food insecurity exists among LTC students – even during a good economy -according to LTC Director of Student Services Foua Hang. And so with jobs restricted or lost due to the pandemic, and with many students still supporting families, a little help goes a long way. That help came from college staff, the student Dental Assistant and Welding Clubs, the Sheboygan County Food Bank and Lakeside Foods, which provided over 100 bags of nonperishable food, 55 bags of personal and home care items, and 100 gallons of milk and boxes of fresh produce.
The StudentSHARE Food Drive helps replace things available free of charge during normal instructional times. But with access limited due to the pandemic many students found it hard to stay supplied and well-fed. Hang said, “These items help meet the needs of our students so they can focus on their coursework and put their minds at ease when it comes to providing for themselves and their families.”
This was the second such effort conducted during the pandemic by LTC, and students are advised to check their emails for potential upcoming distribution dates.
