The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reports a monthly drop in Sheboygan Metro Area employment for January 2022, but recovery from the pandemic-induced downturn of 2020 continues.
61,104 had jobs in January, while 1,554 in the workforce did not, resulting in a Sheboygan Area Unemployment rate of 2.5%. That’s up from the very low 1.8% in December, but is a full percent lower than January of ‘21.
The area’s Unemployment rate had soared to 15.1% in April of 2020 as the pandemic kept people home and doors shut at many workplaces, but that figure was nearly cut in half by June that same year. The area unemployment rate had been under 2% since last October.
