Over a half million dollars will be disbursed to public school libraries across Sheboygan County as part of a record $40.6 million Common School Fund Distribution. The funds were announced on Tuesday by State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski. Sheboygan County’s public school districts will be getting $524,127 in all.
DPI Assistant State Superintendent and State Librarian Tessa Michaelson Schmidt said that for many Wisconsin school libraries, the Common School Fund is the only source of funding for a district’s library media program. Public school librarians and media specialists can use the money from the annual distributions to purchase books and technology that can help students learn and grow.
