The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County reached its second lowest level so far in 2022 on Monday, when the County Division of Public Health logged 1,292 current instances being monitored. That compares with January 4th when there were 1,250 cases active. 29,128 total cases have been found here, and 401 more persons recovered over the weekend. That far outnumbered the 49 new cases to result in the drop in actives. The 7-day average of daily new cases was measured by the State DPH at 16 on February 20, the lowest so far in 2022, and compared with 81 on January1st. That reading peaked here at 282 five days later.
1,168 persons have needed hospitalization at some time for COVID-19, some of them more than once. Currently there are 9 persons hospitalized in the county, three fewer than on Friday.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County remains “high”, with a case rate of 158.66 per 100,000 persons. That’s down nearly 50% from Friday’s reading. The percent of tests coming back positive for COVID-19 edged up slightly to 9.52%.
62.5% of the county population has received at least one dose of vaccine. That equates to 72,067, up only six since Friday. The number of fully-vaccinated individuals here rose by 48 to 68,662, or 59.6%.
42 educational facilities are currently under facility-wide investigations in Sheboygan County, as are 8 long-term care facilities. Educational facilities numbered one less than last week, while long-term care facilities rose by one.
