All students, teachers, staff and visitors at Sheboygan Central High School will have to mask up for the next 7 days. This, as the percent of students with COVID-19 attending there rose to 5.67% on Monday, triggering the requirement set by the School Board back in October. Central is the second school affected this week, with the Sheboygan Leadership Academy implementing the policy on Monday. Parents with students attending Lincoln-Erdman Elementary will be watching closely, as six new cases there on Monday put their student positive percentage at just under the 5% threshold.
All public, private, and independent charter schools in Sheboygan and the state received a letter from the DHS and the Evers Administration on Monday detailing the tools made available to help keep people safe and in school. The letter urged enrollment in the DHS’ school-based testing programs, hosting school-based vaccination and booster clinics during drop-off and pick-up times, and also urged schools to make masking mandatory in order to control the spread of the coronavirus.
