After a four-day break in reporting for the Christmas holiday, Tuesday’s Coronavirus Case Dashboard from the County Division of Public Health showed only modest changes in activity since last Thursday.
20,934 total cases have been logged so far, an increase of 197 since December 23. Active cases decreased by 33, to 1,051 currently monitored cases. Deaths remained at 182.
On Tuesday, 32 persons were hospitalized with 7 more patients admitted while 10 were discharged since Thursday. 1,034 county residents in all have needed hospitalization during the pandemic.
Sheboygan County’s level of community transmission was categorized as “High”, with a case rate (the total number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 7 days) of 449.97. The rate of tests returning positive for COVID-19 was 14.76%, a drop of nearly 3/4 of one percent since last Thursday.
69,635 persons in Sheboygan County have now received at least one dose of vaccine, amounting to 60.4% of the population. 57.2%, or 65,905, were fully vaccinated. 769 doses were administered last week.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is advising that in order to control the spread of the coronavirus during holiday celebrations, the following steps be taken:
● Keep gatherings outside of your immediate household small.
● Get vaccinated. Everyone ages 5 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
● Get a booster dose if you have completed your vaccine series.
● Physically distance at least 6 feet while in public, indoor settings.
● Wear a cloth face mask while in public, indoor settings.
● Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
● Self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days after returning from travel.
● If you feel sick, stay home and get tested for COVID-19.
● Work with public health officials if you have tested positive or are a close contact.
Those seeking tests for COVID-19 can have Curative Antigen and PCR Testing offered by the County DPH at 650 Forest Avenue in Sheboygan Falls Mondays-Wednesdays between 8am and 2pm, Thursdays from noon until 6pm, and Saturdays between 1 and 5pm. That site will be closed, however, on Friday, December 31st and Saturday, January 1st. Walk-ins are also accepted, but registration in advance is advised at Curative.com.
