Oliver W. Hinz, age 82, of Adell, passed away on December 16, 2021, and was reunited in heaven with his favorite granddaughter Jodi.
He was born in Plymouth on August 25, 1939, a son of the late Emil and Eleanor (Konrad) Hinz. He attended Emmanuel Lutheran Grade School in Adell and graduated from Random Lake High School in 1957.
Following high school he served in the United States Army from 1958-1964, and was a member of the Adell American Legion Post #462.
On June 4, 1960, he married Beverly Vanderkin at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade, where Oliver served many years as an elder, usher, and janitor.
Oliver farmed for 35 years and later worked for 17 years at Lakeside Foods in Random Lake.
He served as Chairman of the Planning Commission for the Town of Sherman, and also served 31 years with the Adell Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member of the Beechwood Night Fliers and Cascade Apollo Riders snowmobile clubs, and also was a member of the Adell Sportsmen’s Club.
Oliver also enjoyed model railroads, travelling to many places with Beverly, and spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include: His wife of 61 years: Beverly; Son: Kelvin (Jackie) Hinz of Adell; Grandchildren: Cody and Caleb Nysse; Great-grandchildren: Brantley and Kooper Nysse; Sister-in-law: Carol Fuller of Cascade; Brother-in-law: Robert Vanderkin of Plymouth; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; Granddaughter: Jodi; Brother: Vernon (Phyllis) Hinz; Sister: Shirley (Tim) Emley; Brother-in-law: Tom Fuller; Sisters-in-law: Edith Vanderkin, Bernice (John) Melius, and Ruth Jean (Arno) Shaske; and Nephew: Michael Fuller.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday (December 21, 2021) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation will take place from 3:30-5:30 P.M. with a prayer service and military rites to follow at 5:30 P.M. Rev. Richard Bidinger will officiate and inurnment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Cascade.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Oliver’s name to Adell Fire Dept. and Random Lake Ambulance.
