BALTIMORE, MD (WHBL) – A failed two-point conversion attempt was the difference as the Green Bay Packers defeated the Baltimore Ravens 31-30 on Sunday, clinching the NFC North title in the process.
The two sides traded touchdowns for the first 30 minutes to go into half at 14-14. The Packers held the Ravens to a field goal in the third to take a 24-17 lead after three quarters, then stretched that to 31-17 courtesy of a 29-yard field goal from Mason Crosby.
That’s when things got interesting.
Baltimore closed the game with two unanswered touchdowns but failed a two-point conversion attempt that would have put them on top with 40 seconds remaining. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by the Packers, allowing Rodgers to kneel out the clock.
Aaron Rodgers finished 23 of 31 for 268 yards and 3 TD’s. Aaron Jones, Davante Adams, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling each caught one score in the win. MVS was the leading receiver with 5 catches for 98 yards on seven targets. Adams was also targeted seven times, catching six of those balls for 44 yards.
Jones carried 13 times for 58 yards. AJ Dillon recorded 7 carries for 22 yards and one score.
Rasul Douglas once again led the defense with eight solo tackles. Adrian Amos recorded seven tackles, one assist, and one pass breakup.
The Packers return home for a Christmas Day game on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns. Pregame coverage begins at 1 PM with kickoff set for 3:30.
