(WHBL) – With temperatures forecast to peak near 90 degrees today, the Wisconsin Department Of Transportation is advising motorists to be alert for buckling roadways – and the crews sent to repair them.
Pavement can buckle when the weather quickly goes from cool to very hot, causing slabs of pavement to expand and push against each other. The DOT says predicting where it will happen is nearly impossible, but the “when” is most likely this afternoon when drivers should pay extra attention for possible damaged pavement and road crews. Slow down and move over for the crews, and if you see buckled pavement, the DOT says call 911 and report the location as accurately as possible.
