KOHLER AGREES TO SUSPEND VACCINE MANDATE FOR UNION

Sheboygan County’s largest employer has suspended its vaccine mandate, one day before it was to have taken effect.
A mandate requiring all Kohler Company employees to be vaccinated by December 17th was announced in October, prompting demonstrations and the filing of a grievance by the Union against the company over the mandate. On Thursday morning, UAW Local 833 President Tim Tayloe said in a Facebook Live event that The Kohler Company has agreed to suspend the program as it applies to Union members. He told members that no union associate would be separated on January 1st because they haven’t been vaccinated, and if the program is restored at a later date, all associates would be notified in advance. The vaccine mandate is still in effect for non-union employees of Kohler Company.
Tayloe said that more meetings between the Union and Kohler will take place in the coming days to further resolve the issue and the pending grievance. Local 833 members will discuss the issue during their scheduled meeting on Saturday at the Emil Mazey Hall.
