Five more persons needed hospitalization for their COVID-19 symptoms since the County Division of Public Health issued their Thursday update, and with no discharges, the patient population on Friday rose to 23. That’s the highest total so far in 2021, and the most since 30 persons were hospitalized on December 4, 2020.
Questions have arisen regarding vaccination status of those hospitalized. Such information isn’t released by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services publishes one summary monthly, around the 15th of each month. When last updated on September 15th, the rate of hospitalizations for those vaccinated in Wisconsin was 11.5 per 100,000 persons. For the unvaccinated, it was 98.5 per 100,000.
41 new positive tests for COVID-19 were recorded in the last day, and with 47 recoveries in the same time, active cases decreased by 6 to 759. 16,075 cases have now been recorded in Sheboygan County during the pandemic.
As of Friday, the case rate in Sheboygan County was “high” at 273.11 per 100,000 persons, and the percent of tests returning positive averaged over the last 7 days was 11.27%.
52 more persons since Thursday have received at least one dose of vaccine, raising that total to 64,006, or 55.5% of Sheboygan County’s population. 61,426, or 53.3%, are fully vaccinated, an increase of 75 since Thursday.
