Some positive trends could be found in data coming in from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health in its first of two updates this week.
Compared with last Thursday, the transmission level, although still high, was accompanied by improving metrics, with a 7-day case average of 228.98 per 100,000 people. That compares with a rate of 286.98 on Thursday. The percentage of positive COVID-19 tests over the last 7 days did edge up slightly, though, from 9.3% on Thursday to 9.76% on Monday.
The number of active cases dropped from 688 on Friday to 649 on Monday, the result of 43 new cases countered by 82 recoveries. 15,821 total cases have been recorded during the pandemic in Sheboygan County.
There was only one hospital admission since Friday, and with 3 discharges, the county’s COVID-19 patient population dropped to 11.
Statewide data is also showing a downward trend of COVID-19 cases. The Wisconsin DHS reports that on Sunday, 1,478 new confirmed cases were added to the system for a 7-day average of 2,508 cases per day. That compares with 2,655 new cases added on Friday.
Only 751 doses of vaccine were administered last week in Sheboygan County, the lowest weekly total so far this year. 63,783 persons, or 55.3% of the county population, have received at least one dose, while 61,075, or 53.0% are fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
