City of Plymouth
COVID has forced many changes in order to survive the pandemic, and tonight the City of Plymouth may make one of those changes permanent.
Among the items on tonight’s agenda is amending an ordinance that authorized remote attendance at Common Council and standing committee meetings. The original ordinance was already extended past its initial April expiration, and instead would have ended on Thursday, September 30th.
The amendments being considered tonight would remove expirations on remote attendance of meetings for purpose of a quorum if health or weather make that necessary, since the City of Plymouth has installed infrastructure to promote remote attendance, and city staff have become proficient in using the remote software and equipment.
One deadline would remain on the books: an entirely remote Common Council or committee meeting could be held through April 19th of next year. But after that, meetings will need to be headquartered at Plymouth City Hall.
