OOSTBURG, Wis. (WHBL) – I-43 northbound had to be shut down Sunday night after a number of accidents blamed on heavy fog near Oostburg. The Sheriff’s Department says it was around 8:55 when they responded to a high-speed rear end crash at Mile Marker 118 – and as that was being dealt with, a second high-speed rear end crash at the same location.. The northbound lanes had to be shut down as both crashes were investigated.
There is no word on the extent of any injuries.
Just hours later, at 1:15 Monday morning, deputies responded to a rollover crash on I-43 northbound near Cedar Grove. The driver says they swerved to miss a deer in the road, causing their car to lose traction when they swerved, entered the shoulder, and rolled over.
The 3 people in the car all got out and were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
