
Mary Lou Kohlman, age 72, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday (September 4, 2021)
at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice with her family by her side.
She was born on March 10, 1949 in Fond du Lac, WI, a daughter of the late Leslie and Gladys
(Woschnick) Barth. Mary Lou developed her skill and love for music from her dad who owned and
operated Barth Music in Fond du Lac. She was known for how well she could play the flute, but really
she could play any instrument.
Mary Lou graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1967 and went on to attend UW Oshkosh where
she received her major in art and minor in music. On June 30, 1973, she married Dennis Kohlman at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. She worked at Batavia Elementary School (librarian) and
Plymouth and Random Lake district as a special ed aide. She also taught and did secretarial work at
UWRF in River Falls.
Mary Lou was a former member of Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church where she became a born again
believer and later fellowshipped at Plymouth Alliance Church. Mary Lou was a child of God and her Faith
was a crucial part of her life. She enjoyed reading her Bible, car enthusiast, loved animals, snowmobiling,
going to the Northwoods to Blue Lake and Lake Arrowhead. She loved going Up North to watch the
leaves change in fall with her husband. Her family was everything to her and she loved creating
memories with them.
Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Dennis; two children, Michael (Jessica) Kohlman and
Matthew (Kristin) Kohlman; eight grandchildren, Dakota, Autumn, Trinity, Bryce, Camden, Blake,
Mackenzie, and Coraline; great-grandson, River; sister, Patricia Shatto; brother, Richard (Victoria) Barth;
and sister-in-law, Sandra (Russell) Zieske.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Leslie and Gladys, and her mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Marvin Kohlman.
Visitation will be held on Friday (September 10, 2021) at Plymouth Alliance Church, 1203 Fairview Dr,
from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 PM. Pastor Pete Lillestolen, Pastor of
the Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Mary Lou’s name.
