SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Sheboygan County recorded another jump in COVID-19 cases. Yesterday, 5 new cases were added, and today, another 4 raised the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 81. 12 cases are now active, while 66 have recovered and 3 have died from the disease. Nobody is currently hospitalized in Sheboygan County. 173 more persons tested negative for the coronavirus since yesterday, resulting in a cumulative 2.3% positive return rate so far.
Across Wisconsin, another six persons have died of COVID-19, raising the state toll to 487. A new record 9,410 persons were tested in the last 24 hours and of those, 472, or 5%, were positive. Only half of the six metrics being measured for the Badger Bounce Back program are being satisfied. Although there are no “teeth” remaining with the state’s program to phase in a more open and “normalized” operation of societal functions in Wisconsin following the State Supreme Court’s striking of emergency order extensions, the metrics illustrate the facts that persons showing symptoms of COVID-19-like illnesses are not declining, nor are the percentages of positive test results or the weekly number of health care providers coming down with the disease.
With the onset of warmer weather and in anticipation of the opening of farmers markets, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health has released guidelines for safe operation of the markets for both vendors and consumers. Those guidelines are available here:
