Jill Schuette was born on February 6th, 1937 and adopted into the Clarence W. and Lenora
Schuette family in 1946. She developed a love for books after seeing the Osman
School Library and shared that love with her siblings. She is fondly remembered
for taking time to play Piggly Wiggly and Pollyanna with them.
Jill was a hard worker … working on the family farm, helping with her siblings
and the never-ending household chores. When her parents sold off the cows, Jill
ventured out on her own. She took a job as a dishwasher at H.C. Prange, where she
embraced her newfound life.
She made a lot of really good friends … many of them through work. They were
the ‘Prange Girls’, a group of about 30 and they would all go out monthly for
dinner …something she always enjoyed. The group dwindled over the years but
after she moved to Appleton in 2009 it was still a priority for her to go visit with
the remaining ‘Prange Girls’ twice a year. She said they always had a good time
when they were together.
Jill delighted in bus trips (Mt Rushmore, Grand Ole Opry, etc.) with her traveling
companion, Ardis Ohlinger. They visited State Parks, spent time in Door County
and took in local highlights. She went to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Puerto Vallarta, and
Belfast Northern Ireland with family members, as well as visiting her nephew
Jamie and family near Atlanta. She spent winter months doing jigsaw puzzles and
loved collecting teddy bears.
She was preceded in death by her brother Earl and her parents, Clarence W. and
Lenora Schuette. She is survived by her brothers Clarence (Dona), Allen (Karen),
sister Carol Elbert (Bill), sister-in-law Jean, three nieces and three nephews and
their spouses, eight great nieces and three great nephews.
She was a very special lady and she will be missed. The family would like to
extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Century Oaks Assisted Living, Heartland
Home Care and Heartland Hospice for the loving care they provided Jill.
