Although there were plenty of reasons to complain about all the recent rains, there’s a very good side effect – no more drought.
The latest information from the National Weather Service shows that the drought rating in southern Sheboygan and Fond du Lac Counties has gone from the category of “Abnormally Dry” to “None”, meaning drought is absent. The drought began during the spring and reached “moderate” levels for most of the growing season in our county.
Ozaukee and Washington Counties remain “Abnormally Dry” for the most part, while the far southeast corner continues struggling to escape a “Severe Drought”. Still, that’s an improvement from the “Extreme Drought” conditions reached earlier this year.
