ATLANTA, GA (WHBL) – Willy Adames homered and Josh Hader nailed down his 22nd save of the season to help the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
Adames went deep on the 6th pitch of the game off Brave’s starter Charlie Morton to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead. Jackie Bradley Jr would tack on the game-winning run in the 5th when he grounded out to second base, bringing around Lorenzo Cain.
Milwaukee mustered just three hits in the game including Adames’ homer. Cain and Luis Urias also recorded base hits.
Brett Anderson tossed 5.2 innings to earn the win, allowing one earned run and scattering three hits in the game. John Curtiss finished off the 6th before Milwaukee turned to Brad Boxberger and Devin Williams who bridged the 7th and 8th to bring on Hader.
The All-Star closer needed just ten pitches to finish off the game.
The win moves Milwaukee to 63-43, seven games above Cincinnati for first place in the NL Central.
They’ll begin a three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday evening at American Family Field. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:35.
